That turned out to be the entire point.<\/p>\n<p>For more than a year she had been stuck with the boring, thankless corner of the job. The routine no one ever thanked her for. The small responsibility that honestly felt beneath what she knew she was capable of. The kind of task most people quietly cut corners on, because really, who would ever notice? But she noticed. And she did it well anyway, carefully, even when no one was checking and no one would have known the difference, mostly because that was simply the kind of person she had decided to be.<\/p>\n<p class=\"pull\">She did it well when no one was checking.<\/p>\n<h2>The Reason She Got It<\/h2>\n<p>Then a much bigger role opened up, well above what she had been doing, and she was so sure she was not even in the conversation that she almost did not let herself hope for it. She got it.<\/p>\n<p>And when she finally worked up the nerve to ask her leader why her, the answer stopped her cold. He told her he had been quietly watching how she handled that little thing the whole time, the one she was certain was invisible and beneath anyone&#8217;s notice. Because that, he said, is the only honest preview anyone ever gets of how a person will handle a big thing. He had, without knowing it, just read her Luke 16.<\/p>\n<div class=\"verse\">One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.<span class=\"verse-cite\">\u2014 Luke 16:10, ESV<\/span><\/div>\n<h2>The Small Things Are the Interview<\/h2>\n<p>This is the second conviction, and Jesus states it as a flat principle of how life works. Stewardship. How you handle the small, unseen things is not a separate category from your character. It is the clearest evidence of it there is. The way a man treats the responsibility no one is grading, the money no one is auditing, the promise no one would ever know he broke, that is the honest readout of who he actually is underneath.<\/p>\n<p>And God works exactly the way that wise leader did. He hands the much to the people who were faithful with the little while nobody was clapping for them. We keep waiting for the big assignment to finally prove what we are made of, and God keeps quietly watching what we already do with the small one. So here is the question worth sitting with today. What small, unglamorous, unnoticed thing has God trusted you with right now? Because that, whether it feels like it or not, is the interview. Don&#8217;t just hear it.
