Hey family,
If you made it through this week being mindful of every word you spoke, same. I made it about halfway through Monday before I said something at home I immediately wished I could take back.
Here is what I know about us: we are not going to get this perfect. But God loves our progress, not our perfection.
This week we looked at the fruit of our words, 7,000 of them every single day. The question is not whether we are going to say something we regret; we will. The real question is whether we are willing to stop, look at the tree we are growing, and ask honestly: is this what I want people to eat?
Because fruit is for others. Your wife eats your words. Your kids eat your words. The young guy at work eats your words. That brother you haven’t called in three years is hungry for something from you that only you can give him.
This week is not over. There is still a word you can speak today. An apology, an affirmation, a phone call you have been putting off.
One sentence that could change a relationship: “I love you. I’m proud of you. I’m sorry. I should have said this sooner.”
You do not need the perfect speech. You just need to make the walk.
See it from God’s seat. Your words are seeds; plant something worth growing. Stay in step with the Spirit.
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”
Psalm 19:14 (ESV)
